THERAPY????
If you have never tried it before, trust me, I get it! I'm a AfroNative American. I come from a culture of people where we don't talk about our problems with other people. That is NOT culturally ok! Told you I get it! What I will also tell you, breaking the chains of family shame, stigma and stereotypes is the worst thing that can happen in therapy. Therapy is a way to reconnect mind, body and soul using simple tools to harness the energy you already possess. It is the key to unlocking the true path of happiness and joy that only you have power to allow yourself to discover.

Far too often, we give this power of discovery to others in hopes they will develop our hopes, dreams and passion. Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures, we learn that it is our responsibility to develop our passion and the honor to work collaboratively with others to support our discovery.

My clients develop life-changing habits to help them live life differently. At bruised not broken therapy llc, my therapy sessions are designed for the whole family to unravel painful issues and provide opportunity for re-discovery. Your journey is not like anyone else's, so lets treat it that way!

approach to therapy
When I thought of how I wanted therapy to look and feel, I thought of pride in my culture and sense of being. bruised not broken therapy llc, takes an Afrocentric approach to psychotherapy methods to instill a sense of cultural pride and affirmation. This approach celebrates all walks of cultural beliefs and pride while also recognizing the individual within the community.  My couples, individuals, and families may or not resemble traditional nuclear family designs. They can be single parents, same-sex couples, and fantastically unique individuals. Services offered are intended to support you holistically, first by offering the opportunity to come sit with me.
individual therapy
I AM: Unique
When you can't seem to get your mind and body to align, we should have a conversation to see how we can address your mental wellness.  Some of us will recognize the importance of learning how to accept the apology that will never come.  We can work on supporting your ability to forgive others for your mental wellness, peace, and inner joy. AND we can work on the hardest part of individual therapy: how to forgive yourself!
couples therapy
I AM: Still Here
Communication is one of the main challenges couples face throughout different stages of the relationship. Â It isn't hard to understand that relationships are complex, but it can be hard when you speak different languages.
mixed status relationships
I AM: In control of HIV
We will talk about life with HIV, your goals, and where you can use the best support using sex positivity.  Let's have open and honest conversations about how you navigate in a world that still doesn't understand the disease.  Most of all, let us talk about how this impacts your family dynamics, relationships with others, but most importantly, you!
substance use
I AM: a Fighter
Sobriety is a struggle for too many families.  Have you tried making someone change for you because you want them to? How is that working out for you? If you are struggling in that department, just know, you are not alone. So let's start with you and what is best for you. Have you ever heard that by changing yourself, you change others?

I AM: AMAZING!
Let's be honest, in a world of so much love, we still battle hate. Internalized and externalized hate affects the quality of life you deserve. We should talk!
sex trafficking and sex work
I AM:Â Warrior
Sex trafficking can be brutal, and sex work can be beautiful. Not everyone can understand nor can handle that level of brutality or the beauty of both worlds. We should have this conversation in person. Whether you are still engaged or thinking of change, you should know our sessions will be client-centered and hold you with positive regard!
family therapy
I AM: Growing
Oh families, my favorite! No, really, they are! Â Different life cycles mean different approaches to solving the growing pains that are families. Your family is unique, we should use some experiential techniques to figure out just how unique and develop an understanding of what you want to enhance about the dynamics of your relationship.
